Career / Awards & Achievements :-
Shabana Azmi completed her graduation from FTII in 1973 thereafter she started on Kanti Lal Rathod’s Parinay. She made her debut with Shyam Benegal’s film Ankur. Film Ankur is a real life story which happened in Hyderabad. Shabana played the role of a married servant villager who got into an affair with a student who visited the city.
The film was major hit and she won the National Film Award for the best actress. Shabana Azmi then won National Film Awards for best actress for three years for films like Khandhar, Arth and Paar. Film “Godmother” earned her the record setting fifth National award.
