He was born on 18th December 1955 in Kolkata, India to Industrialist Vittal Mallya and mother Lalitha. He father was the Chairperson of the United Breweries group.
He has completed his schooling from La Martiniere for Boys school in Kolkata and received a degree a bachelor’s degree in commerce from St. Xavier’s College in Kolkata in the year 1976. While pursuing his studies, he worked as an intern in his father’s company. After completing his graduation, he flew to the US to do the internship.
Vijay Mallya has become the Chairperson of United Breweries Group in the year 1983 at the age of 28. He took over the company after the death of his father. After this, he has developed the company and this company has become a global corporation with 60 companies.
