Not many are aware that Dada’s full name is Sourav Chandidas Ganguly. He was born on the 8th of July, 1972 in the city that was then called Calcutta. It is also not widely known, that his initial love was the de-facto sports that all Bengalis fall in love with- Football.
By the time he made his foray into cricket, his brother ‘Snehashish Ganguly’ was already a prominent name on the Bengal cricket team. However, the story was set right when Dada enrolled in a cricket academy during his 10th standard.
Sourav Ganguly’s educational background is none too shabby either. He completed his graduation from the renowned St. Xavier’s College, in Kolkata, in Commerce. Later on, he was presented with an honorary Ph.D. in the subject.
