He did his primary education from DAV Jawahar Vidya Mandir in Ranchi. After completion of his 10th standard, he started to focus on cricket with a continuation of his study.
Dhoni did his graduation in Bachelor of Commerce (B.Com) from St. Xavier’s College in Ranchi. He previously worked as a TTE at Kharagpur Railway Station for three years from 2001 to 2003.
He was playing cricket mainly from school cricket club till his higher secondary education but later in 1998, he selected to play for CCL Team. He was selected by Deval Sahay who was the Cricket President of Ranchi district at that time.
Dhoni impressed him by his hitting shots and he later selected in the Bihar Team to play in the Ranji Trophy for season 1999-2000. He made 68 runs in his first domestic debut match and scored 283 runs in 5 matches.
