Personal Life

Ram Lal Nikhanj (father) and Raj Kumari (mother) got blessed with Kapil Dev Nikhanj on 1959 January 6th in Chandigarh. His father was a prominent merchant of timber and mother was a housewife.

Both of them resided in the region of Shah Yakka, currently situated in the Okara district in Pakistan. Before the partition, Kapil Dev’s four sisters took birth at the Okara district. After the partition, they shifted to Fazilka, where his two brothers took birth.

Later on, they moved to reside in Chandigarh. He took admission to D.A.V. School and completed his schooling.

Professional Career

In his professional career, Dev was the captain of the Indian team, which achieved the trophy of the “Cricket World Cup 1983″.

From October 1999 to 2000 August, he was the cricket coach for India’s national matches. In 1994, he announced his retirement.

At his retirement, he held a record for ‘hitting the highest digit of wickets in the Test cricket.’ Subsequently, in 2000, Courtney Walsh broke the record.
