Dr K Sivan was born on 14th April, 1957 ( 63 years old as of 2019 ) . His father name is Kailasa Vadivu ( farmer ) and his mother name is Chellam . Sivan , a farmer’s son , has done his schooling from Tamil medium government school in Mela Sarakkalvilai Village . Later he has done his B Sc from South Travancore Hindu College, Nagercoil. Sivan was the first graduate in his whole family. Sican completed his Engineering from IIT Madras in 1980 . He then got a master’s degree in aerospace engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in 1982.
Dr K Sivan Wife name is Malathi Sivan ( house wife) . Sivan has two childrens , Siddharth Sivan and Sushanth Sivan .
Career / Awards & Achievements :-
Dr. K Sivan joined ISRO ( Indian Space Research Organisation ) in the year 1982 after graduating from Madras Institute of Technology. While on job he has earned a doctaral degree (Phd) in aerospace engineering from IIT Mumbai in 2006. He is the fellow member of indian National Academy of Engineering , Aeronautical Society of India as well as Systems Society of India.
Sivan was appointed as Chief of ISRO in 2018 in the Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) project and he contributed immensely towards end to end mission planning, mission design, mission integration and analysis
K Sivan has receive the following Awards :-

- Dr Biren Roy Space Science award (2011)
- Distinguished Alumnus Award (2013) from Madras Institute of Technology Alumni Association, Chennai

- He was conferred Doctor of Science (Honoris Causa) from Sathyabama University, Chennai in April 2014.
- Tamil Nadu government’s Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Award. (2019)
