Mouni Roy was born on September 28, 1985, in Cooch Behar, West Bengal, in a Bengali family to Mukti Roy & Anil Roy. Mouni’s grandfather Shekhar Chandra was a renowned Jatra Artist. Though her mother is a theatre artist her father is an office supervisor of the Cooch Behar Zilla Parishad. She has a younger brother name, Mukhar Roy.
Mouni completed her schooling from Kendriya Vidyalaya till class 12th in Cooch Behar and then went to Delhi for higher studies. She took training in Kathak dancing in her childhood. Mouni took mass communication at Jamia Milia Islamia at her parents’ persistence, but left the course halfway and went to Mumbai to try her luck in movies. After that, she never returned to Delhi for completing her studies. The actress is an art lover and loves to paint whenever she gets a leisure time. She is also a fitness freak. It is rumored that Mouni is in a relationship with the actor Mohit Raina.

Mouni Roy begins her career in 2007 acting on television dramas “Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi” playing the role of Krishna Tulsi directed by Ekta Kapoor. Afterward, she participated in a reality show and won the first season of “Zara Nachke Dikha”. The actress then appeared as Shivani in the series “Kasturi” which was aired on Star Plus. Later on, Mouni was seen in few television serials like “Pati Patni Aur Who” along with Gaurav Chopra and playing the character of Roop in “Do Saheliyaan”.
Mouni came into lame light after playing the character of Sati in the series “Devon Ke Dev…Mahadev” which was broadcasted in Life OK from 2011 to 2014. Also, In 2013 she played the lead role as Meera in Life OK’s “Junoon – Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq”. In 2014, Mouni took part in a dance reality show on “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa” in its seventh season along with Punit Pathak. She performed really well and revealed her dancing capability and finished off as a runner-up.
In 2015, Mouni came back to television series “Naagin” playing the role of Shivanya against Arjun Bijlani and Adaa Khan which was also directed Ekta Kapoor where she also played a double role in Season 2 of “Naagin”. Mouni also presented the dance reality show “So You Think You Can Dance” along with Rithvik Dhanjani on &TV.
Currently, the actress has filmed her new Bollywood movie “Gold” where she acted with the Bollywood superstar “Akshay Kumar”. The movie is directed by Reema Kagti which was released on 15th August 2018. Her lasted song Gali Gali was a huge hit and was praised by her fans.
